Great effort last night by our Lady Yellowjacket basketball team. Tough first quarter with a 20-point deficit. Dominated the rest of the game but couldn't quite get the lead.
Center was represented in the Groundhog Day Run benefiting AbilityKC at the Hunt Midwest Subtropolis this morning. Center staff members participating included Michelle Kruse, Holly Messner, Myla Mitchell, Emily Anker, and D'Anthony Davis! Well done runners!
Here's the video of the CHS Student Government Association Polar Plunge today at Longview Lake. Water temperature was 28 degrees. The staff group was a bit slower than the students, but they were unified! Over $3,100 raised for Special Olympics!

Chiefs mania is taking over Center Schools!!!
KSHB TV, Channel 41, visited Indian Creek Elementary School this morning to film Kindergarten teacher Shelby Curfman as she taught about the letter "J" using pictures and film of Chiefs receiver Ju Ju Smith-Schuster. The story is scheduled to air on KSHB news tomorrow morning at 5, 6, and 7am. Guaranteed to be adorable!
Meanwhile, teachers at Boone elementary are showing their Chiefs spirit with themed clothing. Pictured below are Boone teacher Rachel Franks and her team of paraprofessionals!
Due to poor weather conditions, Center School District will be closed today, Wednesday, January 25th, 2023. This is a "snow" day and no instruction will be required. Stay safe and have a great day.

Center Superintendent Dr. Cargile met with the CHS Black Student Union to talk about adding student voices to our work on improving racial equity. First step - be part of community article review on Feb. 28.
The Center Middle School PTO did a 50/50 drawing. $591 donated with the winner from the Odessa basketball team. Great job PTO and the CMS family!

For those who have heard about the bus fire at Wornall & Ward Parkway - it is NOT a Center bus. It is from Midland Adventist Academy and was transporting their students to a basketball game. Thankfully all students and staff escaped without injury.
Tomorrow is the night to Pack the House for the final home game of the season for the Center Middle School Girls basketball team! Game time is 5pm. The newly formed PTO will be having a 50/50 donation contest to raise funds to support our students and teachers. Be there!!!
