As you know, 2023 CHS graduate, Reece Damiano, recently passed away from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. In memory of Reece, the Center High School National Honor Society is organizing a Community Blood Drive on October 25th at Center High School. Reece required a lot of blood while he was in the hospital, and this is a really good way to honor his memory and the many friendships he had in our community. The Blood Drive will be held in the Gold Gym at Center High School from 8am to 2pm. Click below to sign up for a time slot. Please share this with others in our community as well. https://donate.savealifenow.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/81670 Thanks in advance for your support. Rick

Saturday was quite a day for the Center family!! CHS students AnneMarie Ball, Savannah Frank, and Oscar Vargas Garcia, along with CHS teacher and Rocketry Coach Miranda Young, received awards for outstanding achievement from the South KC Alliance. Also recognized were partners in our community Mr. Joe Natasi, Serve the World Charities, and Holmes Garden Neighborhood Association. The Center Education Foundation held a very successful 5K run at Red Bridge Shopping Center. It also featured the CHS Marching Band playing at the finish line and then opening up the South KC Block Party at Red Bridge Shopping Center. Later in the afternoon the band was also featured at a rally for KC Tenants. The Block Party, sponsored by the South KC Chamber of Commerce, also included a table for the district, the Band Aides parents selling pizza to raise funds for the band program, a kids zone sponsored by Three Trails Community, and lots of community members enjoying a wonderful day of sunshine, fellowship, and fun! It was a GREAT DAY to be a Center Yellowjacket.

Your September Hive Society CSD Employee of the Month is Ms. Kim Jackson! Here is what Kim's colleagues had to say about her: Kim is very visible in the community as a parent and staff member. She has held so many of our students when they were babies and is always seeking out the upcoming kids. You can see Kim leading the high school band, helping during book fairs, elementary music programs extraordinaire, participating in the Center 5K, a building leader & spirit champion and supporting the staff as a CEA member. If you ever struggle to remember a past student's name, Kim will know. She will also know their extended family, what they loved as a kid & what they are up to these days. All 3 of her children are proud Center students. We are truly lucky to have such a dedicated, caring staff member choose Center as her home for all areas of her life.
