We are pleased to announce that Gary Guider of the district technology team has been recognized at the Hive Society Employee of the Month for December.
Mr. Guider exemplifies our core value of safe and respectful schools. Mr. Guider helps make Center School District a place where students and staff are free to be themselves and further discover who they actually are. He helps everyone around him feel safe, not only physically but also emotionally. Mr. Guider is respectful of everyone – no matter the circumstance.
While Gary's nomination was written by her human colleagues, Blondie (the CHS facility dog), wants to share her gratitude to Gary for the walks, love, and extra treats as well.
Congratulations and thanks to Mr. Gary Guider!!
The Board of Education is an essential part of what makes Center a great school district. For nearly 70 years, the community has supported our students and community through the school district and the education it provides for our kids. The Board of Education is a group of dedicated community members who guide the Superintendent and leadership team in providing the high quality education that our community wants and needs.
There are two seats up for election at the upcoming April 2nd election. We need at least two people to raise their hand and sign up to run for those seats. It's not an easy job; education in 2023 is full of challenges. But, the rewards are amazing. It is an opportunity to be part of a seven-member team that can have a profound influence on the health of our schools and our community.
Please consider volunteering to run or sharing this with someone you think would be a great Board member. Click below to learn the details to sign up. The deadline is December 26th.

For the 4th consecutive year, the Center High School Boys basketball team are the MRVC pre-season tournament champions! An amazing overtime victory over Harrisonville to claim the trophy! Congrats to Coach Wooten and the entire team.
This weekend, our Center High School Girls Wrestling Team got a chance to prove that last week was not a fluke. We were in the tough Raytown South Holiday Tournament. Several tough matches in all brackets. But our ladies didn't back down from the challenge. They went out and proved what it means to be Yellowjacket Strong! We ended the day with a 3rd Place team finish with 120 points! Just 3.5 point behind 2nd place, 30 out of 1st. Very proud of these girls and awesome job, Coach Ali!
As you may know, Center High School and Center Middle School started using “cashless” ticketing for athletic events and activities at the start of this school year. The response from our fans has been wonderful. Lines to get in the games move much faster, giving our fans more time to enjoy the game with less time waiting in line.
Effective January 1, 2024 we are going to start going exclusively cashless for all events where admission is charged (football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, wrestling, and school plays).
For details on the procedures, please click the link below.

Most parents that lose a child to a hidden heart condition say they had no idea. Thanks to My HeartCheck that is no longer a concern. The Center School District is pleased to partner with HeartCheck and Strive for Life to offer FREE heart screenings for Center students (and siblings) on the evening of January 10th at Center High School.
Often, hidden heart conditions have no symptoms. They strike when we least expect and when we are least prepared. Don't miss this opportunity to have your child's heart checked. We put the power in your hands to protect your child from things they can't feel, and you can't see.
Go to https://myheartcheck.org/center/ to sign up for a time. You MUST pre-register to participate. Times are available starting at 5pm until 8pm.
