Center High School is pleased to announce the members of the 2023 induction class for the CHS Athletic Hall of Fame:
- Coach Vick Bland - coached at Center South Junior High School for 30 years, building the foundation for many successful teams at Center High School in the 70s, 80s, & 90s.
- Maliek Collins - 2013 graduate who was 1st Team All State in football and State champion in wrestling. Went on to play football at Nebraska for three years and is currently in his 7th year as a starter in the NFL, currently with the Houston Texans.
- Cara Forte - 2010 graduate who was a state champion in track, holding records in the 100m, 200m, and relays. Also ran track at the University of Missouri, winning All-SEC honors.
- Jerron Forte - 2006 graduate who was a state champion in the track in the 400m and 4x400 relay. Also ran track at the University of Missouri, winning All-Big 12 honors in the 400m and 4x400 relays.
- Jon Koncak - 1981 graduate who was a star in basketball at the high school, college, Olympic, and professional levels. Jon played at Southern Methodist University; he was on the 1984 gold-medal winning US Olympic team; and had a 12-year career in the NBA.
- Julia Koncak - 1983 graduate who was one of the first standout female athletes at Center when women's sports were getting started. Earned multiple honors in basketball (including All-Conference, All-District, and All-State) and played tennis at Center. Played college basketball at Texas Tech University earning honors in the Southwest Conference.
These individuals will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on June 10th as we recognize their accomplishments at the first ever Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony. Stay tuned for details on that event! We will also be making up for the lost years of COVID as we induct members for 2020, 2021, and 2022.
