Congratulations to two Center High Seniors who received $50,000 college scholarships on Friday on national television! The scholarships were awarded to Jaden Smith and Nariah Lovingood by Great Jobs KC (formerly KC Scholars) and were presented to 100 area students by KC based music star TechNine and actor Eric Stonestreet.

Thanks to Ward Parkway Shopping Center, the Boone Elementary Choir, and the Center High School band for a wonderful evening of music and celebration last Friday. The kids sang beautifully, the band rocked the holiday spirit, and the tree was spectacular. Lots of families and Center community members turned out to enjoy the evening.

The Hive Society Employee of the Month Award for November goes to Mr. Daniel Reikena, Art Teacher at Center Elementary School. Mr. Reikena was nominated by his peers for his dedication to students and helping them thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

The National Honor Society is proud to announce 20 new inductees fo the Center High School society. Inducation ceremony will take place on January 9th. Thanks and congratulations to the new members on your service and accomplishments.
Tomorrow (Friday) night is the annual Tree Lighting at Ward Parkway Shopping Center. The program features the Boone Elementary Choir and Center High School Band. The weather forecast is pretty darn good for mid-November (temps in the low 50's). Come on out and support our kids, have a great time, and maybe even share some wishes with Santa. It all starts at 6pm at the Food Pavilion at Ward Parkway!
Last Saturday Center High School and Middle School scholars participated in the Prep-KC math relays. Scholars from KCPS, Hickman Mills, Grandview, and Center competed in a wide variety of activities designed to test their math knowledge and problem solving skills. At the end of the day, the winning school district with the MOST POINTS was Center School District!!!!
Congratulations to the 31 scholars who competed along with their coaches Diane Harris and Diana Elkishawi from CHS and Alanna Mangum from CMS.

Center High School Debate team came home with several medals on Friday, November 10. Scholar Besong and Susan Besong won First Place Varsity Policy
Debate. Susan won Second Place Varsity Speaker, and Rahman Franklin won Third Place in Student Congress. The Team won Second Place Sweepstakes for the tournament. We are very proud of our Yellowjacket Debaters!
Substance abuse is a critical issue for youth in our community. Center Communities that Care is a coalition that works with resources in the community, including First Call, to meet the needs of our students. Our own Student Support & Success Coordinator, Crystal Larcom, will be co-preseting with Margaux Mueller from First Call on a program implemented in Center to provide support to students. The presentation will be on November 14th at the Missouri Substance Use Prevention Conference. Thanks Crystal and Marguax for creating this program and for sharing it with others!
Center Education Foundation welcomed Ambassador David Young back to KC. He visited students at CHS and now a happy hour at Tanners.
